Richard N. Struck, Sr.

72 of Galesburg died at 5:10 am Monday, September 10, 2007 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1935 in Orchard Park, New York to Walter and Margaret Struck. He married Gloria Eubanks in East St. Louis, IL. Richard is survived by his children, Richard N. Struck, Jr. of Junction City, KS, William G. Struck of Galesburg, David W. Struck of Keokuk, IA, Steve M. Struck of Junction City, KS and Debbie (and Jason) Brown of Abingdon; 7 grandchildren; three brothers, Bob, Billy & James all of Orchard Park, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Kopaz. He grew up in Orchard Park, NY. He served in the US Air Force for twenty years and retired in 1974 and moved to Galesburg where he worked as a mechanic for several garages. He also was a derailment crane operator for the railroad and last worked as a school bus driver in Galesburg. He returned to Orchard Park and lived 15 years and recently returned to Galesburg where he lived with his son, William. Richard loved to make bird houses and feed the squirrels. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and telling stories. Cremation was accorded. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. followed by a flag presentation by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.
