Rita C. Fengel Reed

94 a resident of Seminary Manor, Galesburg formerly of Abingdon died at 2:30 am Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Seminary Manor. She was born on January 14, 1912 in London Mills to Asa W. and Myrtle B. Swigart Hummel. She married Everett Fengel. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married William D. Reed on September 25, 1953 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are one son, Doc (and Loretta) Fengel of Abingdon; one daughter, Mera (and Kenneth) Norville of Galesburg; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1930. She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and later in Galesburg for ten years prior to her residing at Seminary Manor. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed flower gardening. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:45 am Saturday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
