66 of RR Abingdon died at 6:20 am Thursday, December 30, 2004 at his home. He was born on April 21, 1938 in Abingdon and was raised by his mother and step father Mildred and Dayne Hopping. He married Dottie Moore on October 17, 1958 in Roseville. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Kraig Tinkham and Kory (and Ramona Florine) Tinkham both of Abingdon; his mother and step father of Knoxville; one brother, Jack Hopping of Galesburg; two sisters, Dayna (and Ronnie) Zimmerman of Appleton Court and Denise Hopping of Knoxville; three grandsons. He had lived in the Abingdon area all his life. He served in the US Air Force from May 2, 1955 until February 16, 1956. He was an owner/operator truck driver for 40 years and had worked for the former Sampson's Trucking VSM Trucking in Abingdon and later worked as a driver for Knoxville Leasing. He was a member of the Abingdon Road Knights Car Club. Graveside service will be at 11 am Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Danny Hunt will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Abingdon Road Knights.
