Ruth Marks

86, formerly of 607 W. Jackson St., died at 3:45 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on February 22, 1917 in Marietta, IL to Don L. and Pearl Maul Morey. She married Lewis G. Marks on September 2, 1939 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1964. Surviving are two daughters, Sally Cramer of Abingdon and Nancy (and Bruce) Mueller of Talbott, TN; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Jane Glover and one sister She graduated from Cuba High School in 1935 and later graduated as an LPN from Carl Sandburg College in 1971. She had worked as an LPN at the Care Center of Abingdon. She had lived in Abingdon most of her adult life. She was member of the Abingdon United Methodist church since 1942. She was a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a past worthy matron. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Dinges will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Abingdon United Methodist Church.
