65 of Abingdon died at 7:20 am Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg. She was born on November 16, 1943 in Galesburg, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Price) Sloan. She married Jan "Toby" Cox. She later married James "Bo" Boyer on October 16, 1966 in Virginia, IL. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Richard Sloan and a grandson, Benjamin James Boyer. Sandy is survived by two sons, Michael W. Cox of Cameron, IL and Brad (and Cindy) Boyer of Denmark, IA; two granddaughters, Abigail and Allison Boyer; two step children, Tim Boyer of Pleasant Plains, IL and Vicki (and Victor) Gray of Abingdon, IL; 4 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren two brothers, Roy (and Marie) Sloan of TX and Tom ((and Cee) Sloan of Delong, IL; two sisters, Judy Williamson and Rose Speaker both of TX. She graduated from Abingdon High School. She worked as a waitress at the former Friendly Café in Abingdon. She then worked at Admiral Manufacturing in Galesburg for several years. She also co-owned and operated the C & I Sandwich shop in Galesburg. She last worked as a guard at the Henry Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2009 at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or OSF Hospice.
