Sheila J. (Witherell) Wiley

Sheila J. Witherell Wiley, 79, of Macomb, formerly of Galesburg, passed away on September 10, 2025, one day after her birthday. She had to have one last party before she left this earth.

She was born on September 9, 1946, in Galesburg, to Carl A. and Edna (Austin) Witherell. Sheila attended Galesburg schools and graduated with the Class of 1964. On February 4, 1965, she married the love of her life, Gale Eldon Wiley.

Sheila worked for many years as a nail technician at JCPenney, where she built lasting friendships and shared her love of all things fabulous. Known for her vibrant spirit, she loved being the life of the party and was always quick to laugh. She adored her many cats and special dogs and enjoyed antiquing adventures with her husband. Most of all, Sheila cherished time spent with her family and friends.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She had previously been a member of the Galesburg Motorcycle Club and the Archery Club.

She is survived by her brothers, Carl (Dolores) Witherell Jr., Barry (Connie) Witherell, and Gregg (Brenda) Witherell; her stepchildren, Greg Wiley and Susan Heynen; several grandchildren, including Joshua (Heather) Heynen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; niece, Dena; and sister-in-law, Kerry Witherell.

Cremation will be accorded. Sheila and Gale will be laid to rest together in a private family ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
