Shirley M. Brown

62, of 422 S. Western Ave. died at 11:54 pm Monday, December 3, 2007 at her home. She was born on November 21, 1945 in Canton, IL to Charles and Dorothy Toomer Grigsby. She married Charles E. Jones on August 18, 1963 in Little America. She later married Jeffrey C. Brown on August 6, 1993 in Abingdon. He survives. Shirley is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Grigsby of Gallatin, TN; a son, Troy (and Heidi) Jones of Savanna, IL; a daughter, Tracy (and Jeff) Edwards of Pekin, IL ; three stepsons, Jason (and Debbie) Brown of Abingdon, Shannon (and Dawn) Brown of Knoxville and Mark Brown stationed with the US Navy in Chicago; a brother, Chuck (and Onna) Grigsby of Lewistown, IL; a sister, Sheila (and Charlie) Nelson of Gallatin, TN; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father. She graduated from Lewistown High School in 1963. She worked as a housekeeper until her illness. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, fishing, bowling and cheering for her grandchildren at their events. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Jay Cowell will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Family or the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
