Shirley J. Myers

79, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon the past three years, died at 12:35 am Friday, August 8, 2003 at the Care Center. She was born May 29, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to Howard and Margarite Caslin Cowan. She married Robert S. Myers on December 17, 1947 in Knoxville. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1984. Surviving are one daughter, Karen (and Dave) Tabb of Abingdon; two sons, Keith (and Sherry) Myers of Victoria and Kendal (and Karen Schwieter) Myers of Galesburg; two brothers, Bruce Cowan of Tucson, AZ and Jim (and Doranne) Cowan of Galesburg; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1942. She and her husband lived in Knoxville until moving to Abingdon in 1963. She was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist Faith. She was a member of the Rotary Wives and a member of the Knox American Legion Post Auxiliary. Graveside service will be at 1:30 pm Monday at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg with Eleanor Landon officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 é
