Stephen Richard Lanham, 65, of Oquawka, died at 6:10 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at home.

He was born April 3, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Richard G. and Lois B. (Lewis) Lanham.

He is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Robin Nelson; children, Morgan, Alexis, Travis, Mary (Matthew), Melissa, Jayson, Jessica, and Mary K.; 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bradley; and a granddaughter, Carly.

Steve had worked as an Information Technology Technician for 40 years before retiring July 14, 2023. He had worked with several area companies over the years, the last 13 with Midwest Bank of Western Illinois.

He graduated from South Bend High School in 1977. He served in the United States Army for 8 years. Steve was a lifelong learner, always reading and researching things. He enjoyed woodworking, working on automobiles, and just about anything he could do with his hands. Steve served as a Boy Scout Master in Knoxville for many years.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Monmouth American Legion from noon to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Hinchliff-Pearson-West.
