Tom Durkin

31 of 601 N. Austin Ave. died at 1:40 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at home. He was born on January 22, 1976 in Galesburg to Michael and Joyce Dixon Durkin. He married Devon Philbee in June of 2000 in Abingdon. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Durkin of Abingdon, his father, Michael Durkin of Nebraska City, NE; a son, Bryce Philbee of Galesburg; a daughter, Kyra Durkin of Galesburg; a brother, Jon Durkin of Galesburg; a sister, Marie (and John) Kness of Oneida; 6 nieces and nephews and an uncle, Jerry Dixon of Abingdon. He had lived in Abingdon all his life. He graduated from Abingdon High School. He was in Cub Scouts growing up. He worked at Midstate Manufacturing in Galesburg the past year. He loved spending time with his children, Bryce and Kyra, his family and friends. He loved to participate in Mud Drags and putting model cars together. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:00 am Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel followed by a prayer service with Eleanor Landon officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Private burial of the cremains will be at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Church of God of Prophecy Fellowship Center in Abingdon following the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
