Vada Marie Poyner

74 of 1489 Grand Ave. died at 3:47 pm Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. She was born on September 30, 1932 in Reyno, Arkansas to Charles J. and Freda M. Dixon Myers. She married William R. Poyner on June 14, 1955. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charles R. (and Kathy) Poyner and Ronald J. (and Kelly) Poyner all of Galesburg; two sisters, Inelda (and Gene) Hopping of Galesburg, Mirmadean "Mimi" Clayton of Galesburg; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joyce Parnaby and Wilma Jones, an infant brother Truman Myers and an infant sister Velma Myers. She grew up in Abingdon and had also lived in Knoxville before moving to Galesburg. She was the Pastor of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Galesburg for 37 years. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday at the chapel in Abingdon. Memorials may be made to Jesus Name Pentecostal Church.
