71 of Galesburg died at 4:51 pm Friday, March 30, 2007 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital ER. She was born on January 9, 1936 in Maynard, Arkansas to James Henry and Nelma L. Gilbert Tatum. She married Duane R. Shotts on July 11, 1954 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, James Jacob Shotts of Naperville, John Ray (and Carol) Shotts and Matthew David Shotts of Galesburg; 4 grandchildren; a brother, James Harlan Tatum of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1954 and later from Carl Sandburg Jr. College nursing program in 1982. She worked as a nurse at Galesburg Cottage Hospital from 1982 until retiring in March of 2001. She had also partnered with her husband and owned and operated Shotts Market in Galesburg from 1960 until 1976. She was of the Methodist faith. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. David Sholl will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
