Wilmer Pendarvis Obituary

82,of Abingdon, died at 7:50 am Sunday, February 15, 2004 at his home. He was born December 25, 1921 near Abingdon to Glen W. and Eula Roe Pendarvis. He married Lucille Heaton on June 1, 1947 in Toulon, IL. She survives Also surviving are one son, Randy W. (and Diane) Pendarvis of Peoria; one daughter, Linda E. (and Mark) Reschly of Cedar Rapids, IA; one brother, Robert Pendarvis of LaFayette, IL; one sister, Roberta (and James) Buffington of Bend, OR; two grandsons, four granddaughters. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He graduated from Toulon Township High School and attended Monmouth College. He served in WW II as a Sergeant in the 112 Army Airways Communication System in Italy and Africa. He was a farmer, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Farm Bureau since 1949. He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the Board of Trustees and many other positions on the board for several years. He also served on the Knox County Farmers Home Administration Committee for several years. He was a Real Estate Broker and was associated with the former Peck Real Estate for several years. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Rev. Paul Dinges will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America, Abingdon United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
