Mr. Bradford “Brad” L. Wike, 65, of Abingdon, IL passed away at 10:05 pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria. He died peacefully with family by his side.

He was born in Macomb, IL, on December 13, 1951, to Mary (Breeden) and the late Charles “Chuck” Wike. Brad graduated from Macomb Senior High in 1970. He married Sheryl (Purchase) Wike on December 29, 1989.  She survives

Also surviving are Brad and Sheryl’s three daughters, Samantha Wike (Brandon Larson) of Abingdon, Amanda (Dave) Roberts of Missouri and Melissa (Jason) Johnson of Abingdon, including, three grandsons, three granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter. Brad has three surviving children from a previous marriage. Moniqua Hancock of Iowa, Bradford Wike, Jr. of Prairie City, Lisa (Scott) Erickson of Springfield, including, seven grandsons, one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his Mother, Mary Wike of Macomb and one brother, Max (Sherry) Wike of Macomb and his mother-in-law, Helen Hawkins of Abingdon.

Brad was beloved as “Papa Brad” by many children in the community as co-owner of Sheryl’s Daycare. He retired from OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center of Galesburg after 31 years in the maintenance department. Brad served 17 years as an officer with the Abingdon Auxiliary and Police Department including appointed Captain of the Auxiliary Police.

Brad was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He volunteered at Abingdon American Legion. Brad was often seen at the ballpark watching the daycare children and grandchildren play ball.

Visitation will be held at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017.  Join the family for food and celebration of life on Saturday, October 21 from 12-3 pm at the Abingdon American Legion.
