Daniel “Dan” J. Moshier, 58 of rural Abingdon, passed away with his family at his side at 5:42 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, after battling health issues.

He was born November 12, 1959 in Galesburg, the son of Elwood W. and Marjorie I. (Cannon) Moshier.  He married Jodi Ferguson on September 1, 1991.

Dan is survived by his mother, Marjorie Moshier of rural Abingdon; two sons, Cory (Danielle) Moshier of Avon and Kyle Moshier of St. Augustine; two sisters, Tina Grohmann of rural Gilson and Terri Brown of Macomb, his granddaughter, Karev Moshier; his nephew and nieces, Jeff (Tammi) Grohmann, Stacy (Sean) Grohmann and Tonya English; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, David Moshier and his brother-in-law, Richard Grohmann.

Dan had lived in the Abingdon area all his life.  He attended Abingdon schools.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two boys.  He was a farmer and raised cattle on the family farm.  He also enjoyed hunting, volunteering at the Abingdon Community Festival and watching old western movies.  John Wayne was his favorite western actor.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Rev. Bob Malone will officiate.  Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
