Steffanie was a telephone operator for several years as a contractor for the United States Army in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.  This is where she first met her future husband, Bob.  After moving to the Quad Cities, she worked as a telephone operator and at McCabe’s Department Store in Rock Island.  The family relocated to Galesburg in 1974.  Bob and Steffanie retired to Florida, where they lived until returning to Galesburg in 2010.

Steffanie was a woman of faith.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir, Bible study, and the Christian Women’s Club.  She was a sports fan, participating in skiing and speed skating while growing up in Canada.  She was an avid golfer, belonging to Soangetaha Country Club and its Ladies Golf Group.  She also enjoyed watching hockey and baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
