Mr. Harlan Eugene Palmer, Galesburg Chapel

69, formerly of Knoxville, IL died at 9:50 AM Monday May 16, 2005 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC.
He was born March 18, 1936 in Galesburg, IL to Cecil N. and Verna A. Johnson Palmer. He married Kathryn Burgess June 1, 1958 in Williamsfield, IL. She survives.
Surviving are two sons \” Michael (his wife Stacie) Palmer of Dubuque, IA; William (his wife Kelly) Palmer of Morris, IL; three daughters \” Susan (her husband Tony) Garoutte of Gilson, IL; Sally (her husband Dennis) Hitsman of Steinhatchee, FL; Nancy (her husband Michael) Cooley of Galesburg, IL, two brothers \” Marvin (his wife Jean) Palmer of Galesburg, IL, Carl (his wife Vivian) Palmer of Knoxville, IL and 11 grandchildren.
He was a plumber for over 25 years working for May Company in Galesburg, Hathaway Pluming in Galva, IL and Benbow Plumbing in Galesburg, IL. From 1971 to 1981 he and his brothers owned and operated Knoxville Plumbing and Heating in Knoxville, IL. He later worked for Thomas Plumbing and Heating Galesburg, IL until his retirement in 1996.
He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe fitter’s Local Union #25 and Little John Conservation Club. He was a former volunteer for the Wataga Fire Department, Wataga, IL. He was a 1954 Williamsfield High School graduate and attended Trenton and Dahinda one room schools. He also attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.
In the year 2000 he and his wife sold their home in Knoxville and traveled full time with many miles of pleasure and meeting wonderful people.
Funeral will be 11:30 AM Saturday May 21, 2005 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rev. Kirk Kendall officiating. Visitation will be 6:30 \” 8:00 PM Friday May 20, 2005 at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the services. Memorials can be made to Community Hospice’s of America or Little John Conservation Club.
