Mr. Wayne Albert Billingsley

Wayne Albert Billingsley, 90, of Galesburg, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at home.

He was born October 18, 1927, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of Fred M. and Sally “Sadie” Betsy (Hume) Billingsley.  He married Lois M. Peterson on July 3, 1955, in Oneida.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Lois; a son, Bruce (and Linda) Billingsley of Moline; a daughter, Barbara Markham of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kathryn (and Joel) Krause, Kelly Markham, Kyle Markham, Kurt Markham, Randy (and Loy) Billingsley, and Matthew Billingsley; and a great granddaughter, Margeaux Krause.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

Wayne was a banker at Farmers and Mechanics Bank for 40 years, retiring December 30, 1990.  He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1946 and from Brown’s Business College in 1948.  Wayne was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed golfing and playing ping pong.

Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army.  He served as a corporal from 1950 to 1952 in Korea.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Shawn Smith will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
